As Arizona’s leading provider of maps and map products for more than 28 years, we are growing and striving to improve our methods and our maps. About the Department: The cartography department creates and maintains high quality digital map drawings and databases from which all Phoenix Mapping Service products are derived. We also do a variety of custom cartography work that modifies and customizes our maps for special uses by other companies. Be part of our Cartography and Map Production Team. You will work with a team of talented and dedicated professionals who really like what they are doing. The work is varied to include information gathering, product development, design, computer aided drafting, database development and modification, quality control, final output and project coordination. You will have an opportunity to learn and use specialized software to make quality maps and map related publications. The Successful Candidate: Candidates should have a BA/BS in Geography or Cartography (cartography and GIS courses required). A good understanding of mapping and cartographic principles is required. AutoCAD MAP or ArcInfo software experience highly desired. Candidates must demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and effective organization and communication skills (whether through internship experience or project course work). Candidates must be detail oriented and perform accurate work. One year of previous work experience preferred, but not required. Basic use of some Desktop Publishing and Layout software along with Windows and MS Office software.
