$ 29.95 $ 44.95

The Apache & Sitgreaves National Forests, administrated as 1 National Forest, encompass 2 million acres of magnificent mountain country in east-central Arizona. This latest edition of the map is not waterproof like previous editions. It features shaded relief & includes Game Management Units for hunters.

It's called God's Country…lakes…mountains…The Mogollon Rim made famous by Zane Grey…The White Mountains…made green by ponderosa pine, gentled by cold waters flowing to the valleys below & far beyond. It is a physically challenging & rewarding recreational landscape. A place of spiritual renewal…& more…The Apache-Sitgreaves have 34 lakes & reservoirs & more than 680 miles of rivers & streams - more than can be found in any other Southwestern National Forest. The White Mountains contain the headwaters of several Arizona rivers including the Black, Little Colorado, & San Francisco.

The Sitgreaves was named for Captain Lorenzo Sitgreaves, a government topographical engineer who conducted the 1st scientific expedition across Arizona in the early 1850s. On the Sitgreaves, the major attractions for visitors are the Mogollon Rim & 8 coldwater lakes. From the Mogollon Rim's 7,600-foot elevation, vista points provide inspiring views of the lowlands to the south. The Mogollon Rim, named after Don Juan Ignacio Flores Mogollon (pronounced: muggy-own) who was the governor of the Province of New Mexico from 1712 to 1715, extends 200 miles from Flagstaff, Arizona, into western New Mexico.
