– WIDE WORLD MAPS & MORE! plans to expand its North Phoenix store from a Mini-Store which it has been for almost a decade. The expanded Map Center & Gallery will open on or about May 15th and will still be at 17232 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85032-2423.
The change is part of restructuring and improvement designed to provide a more positive retail environment and better serve customers in the North Valley, and made reality when the owner of Lookout Mountain Outdoors retired last month. The exanded location is easy to get to west of SR 51 and south of SR 101. This gives improved exposure to new and existing customers in the norther part of central Phoenix, including Deer Valley, Paradise Valley, Moon Valley, and Scottsdale.
The unique map related business has thrived for more than four decades. It started as the first “map store” concept in the state and one of the first in the country. Founded in 1975 as Arizona Map Shops by Robert Molner, the company was one of the first to make a wall map and street atlas for the Metropolitan Phoenix area. It has grown and changed over the years, becoming Wide World of Maps in 1979. The store offers a wide variety of maps and map-related items from all over the world, becoming a headquarters for local businesses that use maps in everyday activities, along with schools and government agencies.
The store has an amazing selection of U.S. and foreign maps along with travel books and accessories. Outdoor enthusiasts frequent the store for its unequaled selection of maps, books and related items covering Arizona and the West for hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, off-road travel, treasure hunting and other activities. Modern and antique maps and globes are also popular home and office décor. The store stocks or can obtain virtually any city, state, U.S., foreign, world, and celestial map (including vintage and antique reproduction maps), and offers laminating, mounting, and custom framing.
Wide World Maps and MORE! does custom mapping and can modify or produce maps from scratch for customers. For more information and a selection of over 9,000 items visit their website at MAPS4U.COM.
For customers in other parts of the valley, the company also has a Central Phoenix Map Center and Gallery on Indian School Rd. west of 24th St. and a satellite location located inside Lower Gear Outdoors in Tempe at University and SR 101.
