Read more About the Author Keith Robar was born in Santa Monica, California in 1921 to immigrant parents. He shared the ups and downs (mostly downs) of depression-era life with Japanese, Latino, Italian and Serbian immigrants -- a most contentious lot. He was educated at Washington State University (B.Sc. degreee, 1948); attended the Uiversity of Washington (Secondary Teaching Certificate, 1950); and Oregon State College (M. Sc., 1962). Keith served as a B-29 pilot in World War II and as an Academic Officer in Texas (Lackland Air Force Base) in the Korean War. He taught science at the secondary level for thirty years before his retirement from the Seattle School District in 1987, and now lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife and three sons.
