$ 38.95

The Medicine Bow National Forest began with the establishment of the Medicine Bow Forest Reserve by President Theodore Roosevelt on May 22, 1902. The Forest is now managed according to the principles of Ecosystem Management, which blends the public need for natural resources with the maintenance of ecosystem health and stability. The Forest is ideal for short hiking trips and many backcountry roads and trails offer excellent mountain biking experiences. The Forest is open to hunting in accordance with state laws and regulations. Big game on the Forest includes elk, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, and black bear. Many different species of trout are present on the Forest and a variety of fishing experiences are available in the Snowy Range area. There are also many developed campgrounds that accommodate tents and small camper trailers.
