Description
Baxter Carbine and four friends started a computer company in Bismarck, North Dakota. Concerned that disputes between the partners might mar their friendship, they agreed to resolve disputes by taking lie detector tests. The business prospered, and resolving conflicts by using a lie detector worked so well others began to use the unique form of problem solving. The unions and the new companies suppliers were the first to jump on the bandwagon. It quickly spread to schools and churches, and within two years, Baxter Carbine's new conflict resolution was used throughout North Dakota. People who used lie detectors were called "Pollywog's". As was to be expected, Pollywog's soon became involved in politics. They formed a political party and threaten to take over the state. Washington D.C. power brokers became troubled. They feared the values advocated by the rampaging new political party would underpin their power. Some welcomed the change. Others reacted with intrigue, conspiracy and murder.
